  1. Supporting local groups, investing in our towns and villages, and keeping Laois a great place to live.

Strong communities are the foundation of a thriving county. This priority focuses on ensuring that every town, village, and neighbourhood in Laois has the support and resources needed to flourish. It means investing in community centres, sports clubs, cultural organisations, and voluntary groups that bring people together. It also involves improving local amenities, supporting community-led projects, and ensuring that rural and urban areas alike remain attractive places to live, work, and raise families. By strengthening community ties and encouraging local participation, Laois can continue to be a welcoming, vibrant, and connected county.

  2. Attracting investment, backing local businesses, and creating quality jobs for our people.

A strong economy provides opportunities for individuals, families, and communities to prosper. This priority is focused on attracting new businesses and investment into Laois while helping existing local enterprises grow and succeed. It includes supporting entrepreneurs, improving infrastructure, encouraging innovation, and promoting Laois as an attractive destination for business development. The goal is to create sustainable, well-paid jobs that allow people to live and work locally, reducing the need for long commutes and helping to build a stronger local economy that benefits everyone.

  3. Improving schools, supporting further education, and giving young people the best start in life.

Education is one of the most important investments in the future of Laois. This priority seeks to improve educational facilities, resources, and opportunities for students of all ages. It includes advocating for better school infrastructure, supporting access to further and higher education, and expanding vocational training opportunities. Special emphasis is placed on helping young people develop the skills, knowledge, and confidence they need to succeed in a changing world. By creating pathways to education, training, and employment, this priority aims to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

  4. Pushing for better access to GP services, shorter waiting times, and stronger local healthcare.

Access to quality healthcare is essential for every community. This priority focuses on improving healthcare services across Laois by advocating for increased access to General Practitioners (GPs), reducing waiting times for appointments and treatments, and strengthening local healthcare facilities. It also involves supporting healthcare professionals, expanding community health services, and ensuring that residents can access timely and effective care close to home. The objective is to build a healthcare system that is responsive, accessible, and capable of meeting the needs of individuals and families throughout the county.

  5. Protecting our environment, improving transport, and building a greener, more sustainable county.

Creating a sustainable future requires balancing economic development with environmental responsibility. This priority is dedicated to protecting Laois's natural environment while investing in modern, sustainable infrastructure. It includes supporting environmental conservation, promoting cleaner energy solutions, improving public and rural transport options, and encouraging sustainable development practices. By reducing environmental impact and planning responsibly for future growth, Laois can become a greener, healthier, and more resilient county for current and future generations.
